Pakistan Fuel Subsidy 2026: Registration, Eligibility and Payment Dates

Pakistan’s 2026 fuel relief scheme offers Rs100 off every litre of petrol for smaller vehicles, as fuel prices climb with international oil markets. Registration is already open nationwide by SMS, though the actual dates you can redeem fuel depend on where you live.

Eligibility: What Qualifies

The scheme is built around smaller, older-model vehicles:

  • Motorcycles
  • Rickshaws and qingqi/chingchi three-wheelers
  • Cars up to 800cc

Registration dates matter as much as vehicle type. Motorcycles and three-wheelers need to have been registered on or after January 1, 2011. Cars up to 800cc need a registration date on or after January 1, 2006. A vehicle that fits the type but falls outside its date cutoff doesn’t qualify.

Relief amounts differ by vehicle:

Vehicle Monthly limit Rate Max monthly relief
Motorcycles / 2-wheelers 20 litres Rs100/litre Rs2,000
Rickshaws / 3-wheelers 20 litres Rs100/litre Rs2,000
Cars up to 800cc 30 litres Rs100/litre Rs3,000

Registration: How to Sign Up

No office visit required — registration is done entirely by SMS. You’ll need your CNIC, a SIM registered against your own CNIC (not a family member’s), and your vehicle’s registration details.

Text this format to 9771:

REG CNIC VehicleNumber ProvinceCode RegistrationDate

For example: REG 1234512345671 ABC-123 P 15062019, with the date written DDMMYYYY.

Province codes: I (Islamabad), A (Azad Jammu and Kashmir), G (Gilgit-Baltistan), S (Sindh), P (Punjab), K (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), B (Balochistan). Use the code for where the vehicle itself is registered — not wherever you currently live. The SMS is meant to be free; the government has directed telecom operators not to charge for it.

The system checks your registration against CNIC, telecom and vehicle-registration records, so a mismatch anywhere in those details will bounce the request.

Getting Fuel: Tokens

Registering doesn’t automatically get you subsidised fuel — you need a token each time you fill up. Text TOK to 9771 to generate one.

Motorcycle and three-wheeler tokens cover 5 litres and are valid for 7 days. Car tokens cover 10 litres and are valid for 10 days. Take the token to a participating petrol station; the attendant verifies it and applies the discount directly at the pump, rather than paying out cash separately.

Payment and Redemption Dates

This is where timing matters most. The scheme first went live in Islamabad. For the rest of the country, fuel redemption starts at 11:59pm on September 16, 2026, extending the scheme to all of Pakistan, including AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Registration itself isn’t tied to that date — it’s already open everywhere, so there’s no reason to wait until the 16th to send your registration text. You just won’t be able to redeem a token for actual fuel outside Islamabad until then.

If Registration Fails

The usual culprits are a mistyped CNIC, the wrong province code, a registration date that doesn’t match the vehicle’s official paperwork, or a SIM registered to someone else. Before texting, double-check your CNIC number, number plate, registration province, and original registration date, and confirm the SIM you’re using is actually yours.
