Fuel Subsidy for Motorcycles in Pakistan: Rs500 Weekly Relief Explained

For motorcycle owners, Pakistan’s 2026 fuel relief scheme works out to roughly Rs500 a week — not because the government hands out a weekly payment, but because of how the token system is built around 7-day cycles.

Where the Rs500 Comes From

Each motorcycle fuel token covers 5 litres of petrol at Rs100 off per litre. Do the math and that’s Rs500 in relief per token — and since tokens are valid for 7 days, most riders end up requesting a fresh one roughly once a week.

It’s not a fixed weekly stipend, though. You only get the discount when you actually buy fuel with an active token, and the monthly ceiling still applies underneath it.

The Monthly Cap Underneath It

Motorcycles are capped at 20 litres of subsidised fuel a month — Rs2,000 total. At 5 litres per token, that’s four tokens across the month, which lines up neatly with the roughly-weekly rhythm the 7-day validity window creates. Once you hit 20 litres or Rs2,000, whichever comes first, that’s it until the next month.

Are You Eligible?

Not every motorcycle qualifies. The registration date matters: your bike needs to have been registered on or after January 1, 2011. Older motorcycles fall outside the scheme entirely, no matter how the vehicle is used.

Getting Your Weekly Token

Registration happens once, by SMS, and then you request a token every time you need one:

To register, text:

REG CNIC VehicleNumber ProvinceCode RegistrationDate

to 9771 — for example, REG 1234512345671 ABC-123 P 15062019, with the date in DDMMYYYY format.

To generate a token, text TOK to 9771. You’ll get a token back covering 5 litres, valid for the next 7 days. Take it to a participating petrol station and the Rs100/litre comes off directly at the pump — there’s no separate cash payment.

A Few Things to Watch

  • The SIM you’re texting from has to be registered to your own CNIC, not a family member’s.
  • If a token expires unused within its 7 days, you’ll need to generate a new one — it doesn’t carry over.
  • The province code in your registration SMS should match where the bike is registered, not where you currently live.

When It Starts Working Outside Islamabad

Registration is open nationwide already, so motorcycle owners anywhere in Pakistan can register now. Actual fuel redemption outside Islamabad begins at 11:59pm on September 16, 2026, when the scheme extends nationwide, including AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan.
